Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a telephone call Saturday with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson for the Presidency, stated that during the call, President Sisi expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with the friendly French Republic following the wildfires that swept through some French regions recently.

Sisi offered his condolences to the French President for the victims of this crisis and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The spokesperson added that President Sisi expressed Egypt’s complete confidence in France’s ability to overcome this crisis, affirming Egypt’s readiness to provide all possible support to France in dealing with it. He also expressed his wishes for continued security and prosperity for France and its friendly people.

The spokesperson noted that the President Macron, in turn, appreciated Egypt’s support for France during this time, emphasizing that it reflects the depth of the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries. The French President also expressed his aspiration to further strengthen the existing strategic partnership and maintain the growing momentum in relations between the two friendly nations.

During the call, President Macron also inquired about the developments in the incident involving two vessels in the port of Damietta recently, stressing France’s solidarity with Egypt, government and people, in this situation.

The official spokesman added that the two presidents also discussed the latest regional developments and ways to achieve calm and reduce the current escalation, especially the war with Iran and the situation in Lebanon, Libya and the occupied Palestinian territory, where the need to settle various conflicts through peaceful means was emphasized in order to preserve regional peace and stability.

In this regard, it was agreed to continue consultation and political coordination between Egypt and France in order to promote peace in the Middle East region.
