
President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi invited industrial developers from Tatarstan to participate in the Russian Industrial Zone project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone during a Tuesday meeting with Tatarstani President Rustam Minnikhanov at Al-Ittihadiya Palace.
The talks, attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and a high-level ministerial delegation, focused on bolstering strategic ties between Egypt and the Russian Federation.
Sisi lauded the “developmental surge” in Tatarstan’s industrial and technological sectors, reaffirming Cairo’s commitment to deeper economic cooperation.
For his part, Minnikhanov expressed gratitude for the warm reception, noting the significant growth in relations since his 2018 visit to Cairo and Sisi’s 2024 visit to Kazan for the BRICS summit.
The Tatarstani leader praised Egypt’s “pivotal and essential role” in the Middle East and Africa, highlighting Sisi’s efforts in maintaining regional security.
The two leaders emphasized expanding cooperation in culture, education, tourism, and agriculture.
Sisi also congratulated Minnikhanov on Kazan’s selection as the 2026 Capital of Islamic Culture.
Finally, Minnikhanov extended an invitation for Sisi to visit Kazan during any future trip to Russia, an gesture the Egyptian president welcomed.
