We specialize in the production of newsprint and writing papers using sugarcane bagasse, a byproduct of sugar manufacturing. Established in 1995, our company is a pioneer in sustainable paper production in Egypt.
Legal Form and Establishment
We are an Egyptian joint-stock company established under Investment Law 230/1989, amended by Law No. 8/1997. Our operations began on 15/06/1995 under Ministerial Decision No. 347/1995.
Location and Facilities
Our mill is located in Kous, a town in the Quena Governorate of Upper Egypt. Situated on 110 feddans of land, the mill is adjacent to the Kous Sugar Mill, ensuring a steady supply of raw bagasse material.
Production Capacity
We produce 120,000 tons annually of newsprint and writing papers, with an annual production value of 800 million Egyptian pounds.
Investment and Costs
The total investment in the project is 2,100 million Egyptian pounds, including a local component of 860 million pounds and a foreign component equivalent to 1,240 million pounds (USD 70 million).
Raw Materials
Our production relies on:
- Sugarcane bagasse (primary raw material).
- Caustic soda and chemicals from domestic production.
- Lime.
- Fuel (Mazut and Natural Gas).
Workforce
We employ 1,000 laborers with an annual wage bill of 85 million Egyptian pounds.
Market Overview
Egypt’s annual demand for newsprint and writing papers is 500,000 tons, with 180,000 tons of newsprint and 160,000 tons of writing and printing paper imported annually. Our production helps reduce this import dependency.
