Founders’ Expertise and Vision

Dr. Maher Stino and Dr. Laila El-Masry Stino bring unparalleled expertise to Sites International. Both earned their undergraduate degrees in Architecture from Cairo University and pursued graduate studies at the University of Georgia and the University of Michigan, where they completed their Ph.D.’s in Landscape Architecture with a focus on Environmental Planning and Urban Design.

Maher is a registered landscape architect in the State of Michigan, U.S.A., while Laila is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). Their academic contributions include teaching and leadership roles at prestigious institutions such as the University of Michigan, King Saud University, American University in Dubai, American University in Cairo, and Cairo University.

Sites International’s work has been recognized globally. The firm received the 1999-2001 Aga Khan Award for Architecture for the Nubian Museum in Aswan, Egypt, and the Hassan Fathi Gold Prize Award for Architecture in 2014 for the Al-Azhar Park project in Cairo.

The Al-Azhar Park project, which included master planning, architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, and site supervision, was featured on BBC, CNN, and PBS’s e2 design series.
