The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has announced that it is implementing proactive measures to secure the country’s wheat requirements, alongside diversifying import sources across several countries to strengthen supply stability and resilience against global market fluctuations. These efforts complement the quantities of locally produced wheat procured during the current season.

Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, held a meeting today with the General Division of Bakeries and the Chamber of Grain Industry of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) to review developments in the milling, flour production, and distribution systems.

Discussions also covered the smooth operation of the subsidized bread system, market conditions for commercial bread and fino rolls, and the availability of supplies for the market and food industries.

In coordination with the Chamber of Grain Industry, the meeting also addressed mechanisms for managing current market developments, with a focus on maintaining stable prices for commercial flour and bread, ensuring the availability of essential goods, and continuously monitoring market trends, distribution flows, and inventory levels.

Dr. Sherif Farouk confirmed the continued intensification of monitoring campaigns across markets, mills, and bakeries to track flour trading, ensure compliance with established controls, and address any unjustified price increases or practices that could affect the availability of flour, bread, and food commodities. Legal action will be taken against detected violations to maintain market stability and protect consumers’ rights.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met today with Dr. Sherif Farouk to review key areas of the Ministry’s work, including the regularity of the bread and supply systems, the availability of essential commodities and strategic stocks, and the Ministry’s efforts to maintain market stability and meet citizens’ needs.

The Prime Minister directed continued daily monitoring of the bread and subsidized goods systems, as well as the availability of essential commodities in the markets. He stressed the importance of maintaining stable supplies and adequate stocks, while promptly addressing any complaints or issues to ensure that citizens’ needs are consistently met.
