
Egypt stressed that the security of the Gulf Arab states is a integral part of its national security during talks with Bahrain on Saturday.
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani discussed rapidly unfolding regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions during a phone call.
Abdelatty expressed Egypt’s full solidarity with Bahrain in confronting any threats to its security, sovereignty or territorial integrity.
The Egyptian foreign minister called for halting the current escalation and avoiding steps that could widen the scope of the confrontation.
He stressed the need to create conditions conducive to a return to political and diplomatic tracks.
The two ministers called for intensified efforts to contain tensions and de-escalate the situation with the aim of preserving regional security and stability and preventing a wider conflict.
