Egypt, Green Climate Fund launch infrastructure partnership

Egypt initiated coordination with the Green Climate Fund’s (GCF) new regional office in the Ivory Coast on Monday to maximize its share of regional climate programs and strengthen continental defenses against extreme weather.

The talks centered on the Africa Finance Corporation’s (AFC) Climate Resilient Infrastructure Program (ICRF).

Egypt’s national GCF committee emphasized that these regional green energy initiatives must align strictly with domestic priorities to deliver direct, tangible benefits to citizens.

The new partnership aims to open up cross-border climate projects for Egyptian firms. By leveraging climate finance to de-risk investments, Cairo seeks to mobilize private capital across the continent, bolstering both Egyptian and pan-African economic resilience under the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
