Cairo has renewed its strong condemnation of recent Iranian attacks on the United Arab Emirates, reaffirmed its full support for the country in all measures taken to protect its security and stability.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty underscored Egypt’s position during a phone call with UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday.

Abdelatty strongly condemned the strikes as “heinous” and reiterated Egypt’s complete solidarity with the UAE during the current circumstances.

He emphasized that the security of the UAE and other Gulf states is an integral part of Egypt’s own national security, stressing the close link between the security and stability of the two countries.

The two ministers further praised the firm bilateral ties and fraternal ties between the two countries, underscored during the recent phone call between their presidents.

On Monday, Iran launched missile and drone strikes on the UAE, the first such attacks by Iran on Gulf states since the US announced a ceasefire with Iran early in April.

Authorities in the UAE said air defenses engaged 12 ballistic missiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones, adding that one strike triggered a large fire and injured three people at the key oil port of Fujairah.

Moreover, the UAE’s foreign ministry reported a tanker affiliated with state-owned Adnoc was hit in the Strait of Hormuz.

Since the start of the US and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28 and ahead of the ceasefire, Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Gulf states hosting US bases, killing and wounding dozens and damaging infrastructure.
