Egypt gears up for Alamein Africa Forum with heads of state, investors Oct. 2-4

Only 5 days remain until Egypt hosts the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum in New Alamein from Oct. 2–4.

Egypt is preparing to host the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum in New Alamein from October 2–4, bringing together heads of state and government representatives alongside senior leaders from financial institutions and key players across Africa’s economy.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is attending the forum, alongside the leaders of Equatorial Guinea, Guinea, Uganda, Djibouti, Angola, South Africa, Algeria, Burundi, Libya, Tanzania, Kinya, Nigeria, Ghana, Chad and Senegal.

Designed to become Africa’s premier business forum, the event will bring together the private sector, investment and financial institutions to strengthen direct links between companies and markets and promote cross-border partnerships.

The permanent forum will be held biennially in Egypt.

Aim of Inaugural Edition

Its inaugural edition will focus on key sectors shaping Africa’s economic future, including infrastructure, trade, critical minerals, digital innovation, health markets and emerging industries.

The forum aims to create a platform connecting political leaders with the private sector and linking established drivers of African growth with emerging sectors shaping the continent’s economic future.

The forum is co-organized by the Egyptian government, the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD).

Throughout the event, participants will aim to align policy and investment priorities, mobilize partnerships for implementation, and strengthen financing and investment pathways.

The forum also seeks to catalyze intra African trade opportunities, integrate emerging economic sectors, and ensure continuity and accountability.

Three African Events

Egypt is also hosting the summit of the founding states of AUDA-NEPAD and the African Union’s eighth mid-year coordination meeting, all scheduled to take place in New Alamein from October 2–4.

Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty reviewed preparations for the three events during a meeting with senior foreign ministry officials on Sunday.

He directed continued coordination among the ministry’s various sectors and relevant national authorities to ensure the events are held to a standard reflecting Egypt’s role in supporting joint African action.

Abdelatty stressed the importance of building on the three events to strengthen coordination among African countries, advance economic integration and development, mobilize resources and build partnerships to implement continental priorities.

He also called for close follow-up on all arrangements during the final stage of preparations to ensure the events contribute to practical and tangible outcomes supporting development and stability across Africa.
