The Egyptian Airports Company announced that it is monitoring, in coordination with airlines and relevant authorities, the repercussions of the technical malfunction affecting the flight data processing systems of UK Air Navigation Services, which resulted in the cancellation and delay of several flights at British airports.
In a statement, the company confirmed that some arriving and departing flights to and from Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh International Airports were affected by the operational repercussions of the disruption, which may lead to some temporary passenger congestion at both airports.
A technical failure in The British National Air Traffic Services (NATS) flight data processing system caused widespread flight cancellations and severe delays across major UK airports on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Services and facilities for affected passengers
The company explained that teams at both airports are managing the situation and providing all necessary services and facilities to passengers, while also making flight information and updates available in coordination with the relevant airlines.
The necessary measures are also being taken to assist passengers affected by the canceled flights, including coordinating with airlines to quickly secure hotel accommodations until regular flight schedules are restored.
The Egyptian Airports Company confirmed the continuation of monitoring and coordination with all concerned parties, and the immediate handling of any developments, in order to ensure the provision of necessary services to passengers and maintain smooth traffic flow within the two airports.
