President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed efforts to expand strategic partnerships aimed at attracting more foreign direct investment into Egypt’s civil aviation sector through the establishment of integrated investment zones around Egyptian airports.

The directive came during a meeting on Monday between President El-Sisi, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El-Hefny to review the country’s aviation development plans and ongoing infrastructure projects.

During the meeting, El-Hefny presented the ministry’s strategy to modernize airport facilities, increase operational capacity, improve passenger services, and strengthen Egypt’s position as a regional aviation hub.

The minister highlighted that continued investment in airport expansion and upgrades is essential to support the growth of global tourism and air travel while leveraging Egypt’s strategic geographic location to enhance its role in aviation, transportation, and logistics.

President El-Sisi stressed the importance of accelerating the development of the civil aviation sector by upgrading infrastructure, improving service efficiency, maintaining high safety and security standards, and increasing private-sector participation in airport management and operations.

The meeting also covered the progress of the Terminal 4 project at Cairo International Airport, which is designed to accommodate around 40 million passengers annually, significantly expanding the airport’s capacity and supporting Egypt’s ambitions to become a leading regional aviation hub.

The new terminal will adopt advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence applications, digital transformation solutions, and smart sustainable systems, to enhance passenger experience, improve operational efficiency, and meet global sustainability standards.

President El-Sisi directed that the project be developed in line with the highest international standards in design, technology, sustainability, and operations, making it a benchmark for modern airport facilities.

He also emphasized the importance of monitoring passenger feedback and addressing service issues quickly to improve the travel experience and strengthen confidence in Egyptian airports.
