Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, received a phone call on Sunday from Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey. The call comes as part of ongoing communication and coordination between the two countries to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on regional issues of common interest.

During the call, both ministers addressed ways to enhance Egyptian-Turkish relations across various fields and commended the rapid development of bilateral ties in recent months. They emphasized their commitment to following up on the outcomes of the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, held in Cairo in February 2026 and co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The ministers stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen strategic dialogue mechanisms and developing frameworks for economic, trade, and investment cooperation to achieve the shared interests of both nations.

Addressing the latest regional developments and efforts to de-escalate tensions, the two ministers emphasized the need to intensify efforts to achieve calm and reach sustainable, comprehensive understandings that enhance regional security and stability.

Finally, the ministers discussed developments regarding the Palestinian issue, stressing the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the occupied territories and the necessity of implementing U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan in its first and second phases, including the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. They also strongly condemned repeated Israeli violations in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as well as in the Gaza Strip.
