Irrigation Minister Hani Sewilam emphasized adherence to unified technical designs for Nile River walkways to protect the waterway’s capacity.
In a Wednesday statement, Sewilam said the “Nile Regulation Project” is a cornerstone of the ministry’s strategy to restore the river’s carrying capacity.
The move aims to ensure the river can efficiently handle water fluctuations caused by global climate change while maintaining environmental balance.
The project involves removing encroachments, defining “river management lines,” and utilizing riverbank lands to provide safe recreational spaces for the public.
The ministry confirmed that inspection teams are working around the clock to ensure all development follows approved timelines and standards.
