New exploratory well adds 2,500 Barrels of oil per day to Egypt

Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum has confirmed the successful drilling of a new exploratory well, South Wasl BB, in the South Wasl field within the Gulf of Suez.

According to an official statement, production tests carried out by the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO) indicated daily output of roughly 2,500 barrels of oil and 3 million cubic feet of natural gas. The well was swiftly integrated into the existing production network, enabling immediate contribution to supply.

The company added that the new well has lifted its total crude production to nearly 67,000 barrels per day, representing the highest level achieved in a considerable period.

Separately, Eni recently reported a major gas and condensate discovery in Egypt after successfully drilling the Denise W-1 exploration well in the Temsah Concession in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Early assessments estimate the field contains around 2 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas in place, in addition to approximately 130 million barrels of condensates. The discovery lies about 70 kilometers offshore in water depths of 95 meters, and less than 10 kilometers from existing infrastructure, positioning it for fast-track and cost-efficient development.
