Egypt reiterates condemnation of Gulf attacks, welcomes Trump’s de-escalation statements

Egypt welcomed on Monday statements made by US President Donald Trump, in which he indicated intensive efforts and contacts to de-escalate tensions with Iran and his intention to halt plans targeting Iranian energy facilities.

Egypt stressed the importance of seizing this opportunity and building upon it to prioritize dialogue, stop the escalation, and ultimately end the war.

In an official statement, Egypt noted that it has been closely and continuously monitoring developments in the Middle East over the past several weeks. In this regard, it reiterated its condemnation of attacks targeting the Gulf states and the Kingdom of Jordan, categorically rejecting any infringement upon their security and sovereignty.

Egypt also warned of the grave repercussions of continued escalation on regional security and stability, noting the negative economic and trade impacts already affecting the region and the world at large.

The statement emphasized that Egypt has been exerting tireless efforts and maintaining intensive engagement with all concerned parties over the past few days to prevent the situation from reaching a “point of no return,” seeking to halt the escalation and avoid “widespread chaos.”

Egypt indicated that it is working in close coordination with regional and international parties to urge all stakeholders toward de-escalation. The goal remains reaching a ceasefire that halts the ongoing conflict and prevents a descent into state of comprehensive regional instability.

From this standpoint, Egypt welcomed all efforts and initiatives aimed at reducing tension and paving the way for an end to the war, specifically expressing appreciation for the recent statements from President Trump.

Egypt emphasized the need to encourage positive voices that support dialogue and negotiation.

The statement concluded by affirming that Egypt will spare no effort in continuing its intensive coordination with regional and international partners to keep the door open for diplomacy, preserve the well-being of the people, and maintain international peace and security.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Washington and Tehran had held “constructive” talks over the past two days in an effort to reach a comprehensive solution to the ongoing war.

He stated that he would postpone military strikes against Iranian power plants for five days.

“Based on the tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of Defense to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period, subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
