The fourth group of Palestinians returning from Egypt after receiving medical treatment arrived at the main square of the recently reopened Rafah border crossing on Thursday, ahead of their return to Gaza.
Meanwhile, Egyptian authorities have prepared to receive another group of wounded and ill Palestinians from Gaza for treatment in Egyptian hospitals, officials said.
Egyptian Red Crescent teams provided the returning group with psychological support, meals, and drinks, while giving sweets to the children.
Egyptian health authorities set up a medical point at Rafah to screen and triage incoming patients, who are then transported to hospitals via fully equipped ambulances.
The Rafah crossing, linking Egypt and Gaza, was reopened in both directions on Monday following Egyptian and US pressure on Israel as part of the second phase of the US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan.
The crossing, historically a vital gateway for Gaza residents seeking medical treatment and travel, has been largely closed by Israel since May 2024.
