President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said Egypt and Türkiye share a clear convergence of views on several regional and global issues of mutual concern, as reflected in his talks with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Cairo on Wednesday.
In a joint press conference following the talks, El-Sisi said his talks with Erdogan highlighted their countries’ efforts to advance diplomacy to de-escalate tensions in the region.
“Our discussions reflected a clear convergence of views between Egypt and Türkiye on many regional and international issues of mutual concern,” El-Sisi said.
“We agreed to continue our consultations and coordination to enhance our cooperation in all fields.”

Iranian Nuclear File
The discussions covered a wide range of files, including the ceasefire in Gaza, the crisis in Sudan, developments in Libya and Syria, the Ukraine crisis, as well as current tensions surrounding the Iranian nuclear file.
“I discussed with my brother, the president of Türkiye, the sincere and genuine efforts undertaken by Egypt and Türkiye to de-escalate tensions in the region, promote diplomatic solutions, and avert the specter of war—whether with regard to the Iranian nuclear file or the region as a whole,” El-Sisi said.
Gaza Ceasefire
El-Sisi said he and Erdogan stressed their rejection of any attempts to circumvent or obstruct the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan in Gaza.
El-Sisi said he discussed the latest developments in Gaza with Erdogan following the success of efforts led by Egypt, Türkiye, Qatar, and the US, which resulted in the Sharm El-Sheikh agreement to halt the war in Gaza.
The Egyptian president praised Trump’s role in reaching the ceasefire and emphasized the importance of fully implementing the agreement in all its phases, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
This includes ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid and preventing a renewed escalation, he added.

El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt and Türkiye’s long-standing position in support of a two-state solution, calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.
He also underscored the need to mobilize international efforts to support early recovery and reconstruction.
The two leaders further rejected any actions that would infringe upon the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, stressing the necessity of ending all unilateral practices in the occupied territories.
These include settlement expansion in the West Bank and violations of the legal and historical status of holy sites in Jerusalem, El-Sisi added.
Truce in Sudan
El-Sisi said he agreed with Erdogan on the necessity of reaching a humanitarian truce in Sudan, paving the way for a ceasefire and the launch of a comprehensive political process.
He underscored the importance of preserving the Sudanese national state institutions to reinforce the restoration of stability and peace.
El-Sisi briefed Erdogan during the talks on the diplomatic contacts efforts Egypt is undertaking to maintain the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan.

Somalia, Horn of Africa
Other important African issues, particularly in the Horn of Africa and the Sahel region, were also addressed, including the unity of Somalia, El-Sisi said.
“We emphasized the imperative to preserve the unity and sovereignty of Somalia, rejecting any attempts to divide it,” El-Sisi stressed.
Libya Unity
The two leaders discussed the joint efforts made by Egypt and Türkiye to achieve stability in Libya, El-Sisi said.
They agreed on the crucial importance of supporting the UN-led settlement process, alongside the Libyan-Libyan solution, while respecting the role of national institutions.
“I asserted that Egypt looks forward to ending the division in the executive authority and to holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections,” the Egyptian president said.
He affirmed the necessary withdrawal of all foreign forces and mercenaries from Libya, in a manner that preserves the country’s unity and sovereignty.
Syria Unity
El-Sisi confirmed Egypt’s full support for the unity and sovereignty of Syria.
“We welcomed the recent agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, which we hope will contribute to maintaining the country’s unity and ensuring the rights of its various national components,” El-Sisi added.
Ukraine Crisis
Current international challenges were also tackled, especially the economic repercussions of the Ukrainian crisis on developing countries.
“We emphasized the importance of ensuring international food security and energy security,” El-Sisi said.
