A Rich History of Growth and Transformation

Our journey began as an Egyptian joint stock company dedicated to supporting the nation’s maritime industry. In 1991, we entered a new chapter when the company transformed into a public business sector company. This change brought The Egyptian Marine Supply & Contracting Co. under the umbrella of the Holding Company for Maritime Transport, expanding our reach and strengthening our capabilities.

Three years later, in 1994, the Egyptian government launched its privatization program. As part of this initiative, the Union of Shareholding Workers was established, allowing employees to become key stakeholders in the company. In December 1997, the Maritime Transport Holding Company agreed to sell 50.3% of its shares to the Union of Shareholding Workers. This important step shifted the ownership structure and aligned us more closely with our workforce at The Egyptian Marine Supply & Contracting Co.

Adapting to New Legal Frameworks

The reduction in the holding company’s ownership share led to another significant transition. Once ownership fell below 51%, we became subject to the provisions of the Shareholding Companies Law No. 159 of 1981. Our extraordinary general assembly, held in November 1998, made the official decision to shift the company’s legal status and fully embrace the new regulations. This transition empowered us to operate with greater flexibility and pursue growth opportunities in a dynamic market.
